Lorena Gutiérrez’s work ranges from installations to objects, neon, painting and photography. Lorena Gutiérrez Camejo’s artistic practice unfolds at the intersection of material knowledge, political memory, and embodied labor. Working closely with processes of making that are historically coded as domestic or artisanal, she approaches craft not as a nostalgic return but as a critical site of inquiry. Her work traces how techniques, gestures, and materials carry within them layered histories of extraction, migration, and survival—often shaped by colonial legacies and contemporary conditions of precarity.

Rather than foregrounding the finished object, Gutiérrez Camejo emphasizes process as a form of thinking: repetitive, time-intensive, and deeply situated. Through this insistence on making, she reclaims forms of knowledge that are frequently marginalized or rendered invisible, positioning craftsmanship as both a mode of resistance and a way of producing meaning. Her practice invites a reconsideration of value—what is preserved, what is overlooked, and whose labor is recognized—while opening a space where the intimate and the political are inextricably entwined.
