Kulturlegi Winterthur :

To be part of it, even
without a lot of money

Villa Sträuli offers KulturLegi Members a reduction of
30% for each cultural event.

Kunstraum Winterthur :

A room for contemporary
art in Winterthur

As the Villa Sträuli cannot offer good conditions
to show the art works of our artists-in-residence,
the cooperation with the Kunstraum Winterthur
is very important for our artists. The advantage
for the Kunstraum is, that they can present
talented, international artists.

In 2008 and 2009 several artists-in-residence
took this chance and had own exhibitions in the
Kunstraum.

International Festival of Light:

Illuminating Winterthur

During the International Festival of Light Winterthur 2007 the
presentation of light art in public spaces took centre
stage. The exhibition Von Ort zu Ort. Lichtkunstwerke in
Parks, Villen und Museen
(From Place to Place: Light Art in
Parks, Villas, and Museums) featured light art by eleven
nationally and internationally renowned artists in the exterior
and interior spaces of Winterthur museums and cultural
institutions. Rounding off the Festival of Light was a half-
day symposium, presentations, podium discussions, and a
varied supporting programme with something for everyone.

Katharina Hohmann, Artist-in-Residence in 2007,
enabled the Villa Sträuli to participate (and shine!) in the
Festival of Light from November 2 - 25.

Also in 2010 Villa Sträuli will be participating at the
Light Winterhur.

Lichttage Winterthur

Mondrian Ensemble

Since autumn 2009 the Villa Sträuli has embarked
cooperative projects with the Mondrian Ensemble
from Basel.

The exploration of modern and contemporary music is
every bit as important to the Mondrian Ensemble as its
intensive engagement with a classical and romantic
repertoire. In this regard, the Mondrian Ensemble sees
itself both as a contemporary music ensemble and as an
interpreter of innovative music from past centuries. In
addition to playing concerts “on commission,” the Mondrian
Ensemble coordinates three independent projects each
year with programmes it designs itself.

Salonpalaver:

What is Salonpalaver?

Fast-paced poetry slams, acting and performance art,
rousing speeches, lively debates, and thought-provoking
readings—elements from all these merge into a single art
form, the spoken word. Sprinklings of music add spice to
the whole. Beginning June 2010 – and for now, four times
a year – Salonpalaver provides spoken-word poets with a
platform to perform. Salonpalaver venues alternate between
the Villa Sträuli’s gold salon in Winterthur, Sphères in Zurich
and other locations.

'Die Künstlergruppe'
(The Artists' Group):

At the Pulse of Winterthur
Creativity

In order to support the exchange between international
Artists-in-Residence and Winterthur’s own local artists the
Villa Sträuli is fostering a dialogue with the Künstlergruppe
Winterthur.

Pro Helvetia:

International Cultural
Exchange

The Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia fosters cultural
exchange between Switzerland and other countries. To
this end Pro Helvetia, in cooperation with the Villa Sträuli,
facilitates work residencies in Switzerland for foreign
artists. In 2006 a photographer from Cairo lived and
worked in the Villa Sträuli; in the coming year two
translators from Warsaw will have residencies at the
Villa. Further joint projects are planned.

The Villa Sträuli offers a residence where creative artists
feel at home and provides a variety of opportunities to
meet others in the arts. Pro Helvetia makes an important
contribution as both a financial and organisational partner.

Winterthur Tourism:

Appealing to Visitors
from out of Town

It goes without saying that Winterthur Tourism is one of the
Villa Sträuli’s cooperative partners; the Villa Sträuli is
included in the Winterthur Kulturpaket (cultural package)
and the Villa’s events, listed in the Winterthur leisure guide
and cultural calendar, contribute to the wide variety of
Winterthur’s cultural offerings

Winterthur Tourismus

We are currently discussing additional cooperative projects
with a variety of other cultural organisations and institutions.
